First EURORISK user training session |
The first training session for European EURORISK users took place on 16 and 17 October 2007 in the DDSC's (French Civil Protection Agency) Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Sapeurs Pompiers (ENSOP - National Fire Service College) in Aix-les-Milles (France).
“EURORISK Services” represent a range of services developed in the context of the European PREVIEW and RISKEOS projects* for the prevention, forecasting and management of natural (fires, floods, storms, volcanic eruptions, landslides) and industrial risks.
Dedicated to civil protection – and more generally to those involved in risk management - these services are developed with a group of European partners, coordinated by Infoterra France.
The aim of this training, which is only the first stage of a complete training programme devised and implemented by the DDSC, is to enable users, beyond technical developments, to fully adopt these new services in such a way that they become an operational reality, completely integrated into the user’s work process.
This first session was a real success, with all participants – representing 14 client organisations from all over Europe: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden – having expressed great satisfaction with the training.
Two new sessions have already been scheduled for the coming months, starting with one in March 2008.
*RISK-EOS and PREVIEW are two projects conducted under the GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) programme for the European Commission and the European Space Agency, coordinated by Infoterra France.
