A detailed and comprehensive knowledge of assets located in risk-prone areas is both essential and a key factor in effective disaster management, for public safety services and for local authorities (mayors, town and county councils, etc.).

With its many years’ experience obtained through close collaboration with risk management players, Infoterra has developed an assets mapping service that provides the accurate and frequently-updated data that such services and authorities require.

This service uses high-resolution satellite images to provide regular or on-demand monitoring of urban development and building construction in risk-prone areas. The frequency with which these images are acquired means, moreover, that Infoterra can supply economical, totally up-to-date products extremely rapidly.

These satellite images are combined with socio-economic data (population surveys, business activities, etc.) to provide customers with an effective solution to the serious lack of such information by supplying them with detailed current data on assets in the following comprehensive range of products:

		Orthoimages: distortion-free geospatial satellite images ensuring a true reference plane
		Detailed construction mapping: locations of densely-built or isolated constructions, including construction type classification
		Construction changes: mapping of changes between two dates (industrial and commercial areas, isolated constructions, etc.
		Population density: combining of satellite and population survey data
		Public building characteristics: provided as complete records and objects for inclusion in a GIS and listing all buildings such as hospitals, schools, shopping centres, etc. and Seveso I and II sites
		Impact analysis: assessments of potential damage caused in predefined situations.

The generated products are supplied on a DVD-ROM and include the mapping layers (in vector and raster forms) and any objects in the customer’s required formats. The service is available either on demand or as a subscription in which the product modules are updated as frequently as the customer requires.
