Disaster management

Infoterra has especially taken a leading role in the GMES disaster management services.

Infoterra France is the prime contractor of the RISK-EOS Stage 2 project, supported by ESA, in which a European consortium advances and implements the flood risk and fire risk related applications and geoinformation services developed during the first stage of this project. The RISK-EOS services combine the use of satellite observation data with exogenous data and modelling techniques to serve the needs of all disaster management actors at the European, National and regional levels.

Infoterra France strongly supports the European GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) initiative of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Commission (EC). Infoterra proposes a European-wide approach for the development, deployment and operation of new and enhanced information services for disaster management. Service providers, users, manufacturers, operators and scientists aim to harmonise the tools used in order to obtain better forecasts and more efficient risk management.

When it is important to get a comprehensive understanding of our actual environment in a timely manner, satellite and aerial imagery provides an extremely valuable source of disaster management processing. The wide range of sensors available today on the market, combined with powerful data processing systems help to rapidly and securely create accurate maps of our ever changing world.
