Pictometry

A new view of the landscape — with 15-cm resolution

Pictometry® is a patented, totally unique information system combining aerial photographs with innovative software that provides its users with an “intelligent view” of the landscape. Infoterra France has been a French distributor for this data since March 2007 under an agreement signed with the Blom Group, a European licenceholder for the Pictometry® technology.

Pictometry® transforms a simple image into a complete toolkit enabling you to change perspective and locate, orient and measure even the smallest detail in the landscape very accurately and easily. This is done by using a set of high-resolution colour photographs collated into a vertical and oblique image library. Each object can be examined from at least 12 different geolocated viewpoints. Although the vertical view is ideal for orienting and planning, the oblique views make it easier to identify and locate any detail or building.

Simplicity
Pictometry® is not only highly versatile, it is also extremely easy to use: you should need only a few minutes to learn how to access the image library then choose the best perspective from those available, follow routes, measure distances or calculate positions and heights for each detail.

Availability
The European Pictometry® programme covers 900 towns and cities in 23 countries, including 97 in France with over 50,000 inhabitants. At least 36 French towns and cities are already available (see list of currently available French towns and cities). The database is scheduled for update every two years.
