Different types of information are extracted from satellite or aerial imagery using photo-interpretation or advanced classification techniques. The content category is adapted to the end-user’s application, e.g., land cover maps designed for telecommunication operators will include built-up area details for radio wave propagation, while natural resources and features will be emphasised for agriculture and environmental projects.
